2017-2018 Class Schedule and Descriptions

 

Classes begin Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Saturday Classes

Level I: Grades K0 – K2

  • Saturday, 9 am - 9:50 am: Creative Movement and Beginning Ballet, with Ms. Ana Bueso. Students will have fun creating shapes, movements and stories in time to music, while learning the fundamentals of ballet.

Level II: Grades K2 – 2

  • Saturday, 8:15 am - 9 am: Fundamentals of Tap with Ms. Sybil Huggins. Students will learn the fundamentals of tap. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.
  • Saturday, 9 am - 10 am: Fundamentals of Ballet with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Students will learn the fundamentals of ballet. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.

Level III and IV: Grades 3 and up (placement by instructor)

  • Saturday, 10 am - 11 am: Intermediate Level III/IV Tap, with Ms. Sybil Huggins. Students will build on the fundamentals of tap, learning more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation. Placement by instructor.
  • Saturday, 11 am - 12 pm: Intermediate/Advanced Level IV/V Tap, with Ms. Sybil Huggins. Students will build on the fundamentals of tap, learning more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation. Placement by instructor.
  • Saturday, 11 am - 12 pm: Intermediate Level III Ballet, with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Students will build on the fundamentals of ballet, learning more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation. Placement by instructor.
  • Saturday, 12 pm - 1 pm: Intermediate Level IV Ballet, with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Students will build on the fundamentals of ballet, learning more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation. Placement by instructor.

Level V: Grades 7 and up (placement by instructor)

  • Saturday, 8 am - 9 am: Advanced Level V Ballet, with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Placement by instructor.

Monday Classes

Level V: Grades 7 and up (placement by instructor)

  • Monday, 4 pm - 6 pm: Advanced Level V Ballet with Pointe, with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Placement by instructor.

Level III and IV: Grades 3 and up (placement by instructor)

  • Monday, 6 pm - 7 pm: Intermediate Levels III/IV Ballet, with Ms. Olga Marchenko. Students will learn the fundamentals of ballet, as well as more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.

Wednesday Classes

Levels III/IV/V: Grades 4 and up (placement by instructor)

  • Wednesday, 4 pm - 5 pm: Hip Hop – Street Jazz, with Ms. Mikela “Kellz” Lymon. Students will learn the fundamentals of hip hop and street jazz, as well as more complicated variations. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.
  • Wednesday, 5 pm - 6 pm: Modern, Caribbean, and Soca, with Ms. Mikela “Kellz” Lymon and Mr. Jean Robens Georges. Students will learn the fundamentals of modern dance, Caribbean, and Soca dance. Soca music has been called the “soul of calypso” and originates in Trinidad. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.

Level II/III: Grades 2 and up

  • Wednesday, 6 pm - 7 pm: Hip Hop Street Jazz, with Ms. Mikela “Kellz” Lymon. This class is a blend of hip hop and street jazz. As their technique develops, students will spend more time in improvisation and performance preparation.
